What's in a name? that
which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
That is the
question posed by Romeo and Juliet, those high born, star crossed lovers of so
long ago.
"Not so." according to a great many people of a great many other times
and places.
Your name is everything; the essences of your being; your very heart and
soul." would be the answer given by The People.
Back in the ancient days, the names of every newborn child was
determined by the Sacred Venus Calendar of Natal Days. The DayKeeper calculated
the name and passed this information on to the mother by the way of a mid-wife.
The mid-wife had the responsibility to see that the mother immediately called
her child by name and baptized it with her own milk. This rite must be performed
immediately. If this sounds far out, just think of the christening in the
church. Only the church has lost the real meaning and purpose behind this
ritual.
There
is so much mental illness in this world today. We did not have these problems in
the ancient of days. Naming the child, calls in the complete essence of the
soul. When I was born, I split apart at birth. Having been diagnosed with
multiple personality disorder, dissociate disorder, bi-polar, and a few others;
the only peace I discovered through applying the Native American
Spirituality.
My life Changed when I was given my Spirit name. I no longer lost track of time.
I no longer was confused and lost in life.
I started walking a path that I was meant to. And every time that I have walked
away from that path, I was brought back with accidents and mishaps. Part of me
wanted to be successful in societies eyes. I thought if I went to college, got
that degree in Social work I could help people and make a living. In Sept drug
dealers burnt down my motor home after chasing me out of my apartment. In the
fight my hips were re-injured from the accident in '99. I am homebound. So, here
I am, to teach the ancient ways.
An
essential aspect of Cherokee religions is the belief that every thing on Earth
is the reflection of a Star. This includes not only people and animals, but
trees, rivers, stones, and mountains-- all sentient beings to the Cherokees.
Astrology has always played a strong role in the Cherokee tradition because of
this belief, but unlike Western astrology is based on a 260 day Venus Calendar,
which includes 20 individual day signs and 13 numbers. The day sign of a
child explains his or her strengths and weaknesses; the number explains the
individual's role in the great cosmic scheme.
The Venus Calendar has 20 sacred days and 13
numbers. There is a total of 260 days in this calendar, the approximate number
of the gestation of a human fetus. Venus appears as The Morning Star for a
little over 260 days and The Evening Star for over a little over 260 days.
